peculiar dysfluency, 1 Year, 10 Months ago
Just finished assessing a 6 year old boy. Overall language skills fair. Auditory stm and word retrieval are main language difficulties. He presents with ecolalic speech of his own productions. Tends to repeat either sounds, words or phrases of his sentences, e.g. - "I went to the beach, the beach, the beach" "put the polo lo there" "he bites bites me" "then it was fresh esh when...". He mainly repeats quietly to himself, sometimes almost inaudible. I'm thinking maybe something in the auditory loop? Would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

Hi Daphne,

I would have replied to this one sooner, but my I only just noticed it. Its difficult to tell what is up with your boy, but he sounds interesting. Is there any sort of semantic-pragmatic thing going on there? It could be some sort of stammer, but also as you point out, some kind of auditory feedback problems - has his hearing been checked?
