Adult with Cerebral Palsy 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I am a first year graduate student, and I do not know what to do with this client. He is an intelligent, college educated adult male with cerebral palsy. He is in a wheel chair and does not have use of his hands. We are working on oral motor exercises and articulation ("l," "p", voiceless "th", and "s"). He has been in therapy his entire life and knows the placement of all the phonemes very well, so I cannot teach placement, but his speech still does not sound very well. His speech is slow and much is unintelligible. He is my first client ever and I do not know what to do. I do not know what kinds of feedback and cueing to give him when it comes to working on articulation. If someone could give me tips on feedback I can give him, that would be great. Thanks.
