24 year old with lisping problem 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I have been a lisper all my life. Like many others, people that are close to me do not notice the problem. I myself can not really hear the problem, but I am very aware of it. This is mostly due to people not understanding me when I say anything with an "s" in it other than that my speech is fine. I do get the occasional ridicule which has caused me to be very cautious of what I say throughout the years. I try to avoid saying "s" at all costs which is impossible to do and makes me delay conversations. I was in speech therapy until about 5th grade when the speech therapists said she had done all she could and thought I would be able to correct it on my own. I never did. I think part of the problem with my speech therapist at that age was not actually telling me what I was doing wrong/different and just doing excercises with me instead. At 24, is it possible to still correct this problem with therapy?
